The North Dakota Center for Nursing and the Culture of Health Think Tank Steering Committee is hosting a special event on June 20, 2017 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at Dakota Medical Foundation at 4141 28th Avenue South, Fargo, ND 58104. The conversation with Hassmiller will be web-streamed to those that have pre-registered. The movie screening will only be available to those that register and attend in-person in Fargo. We invite all nursing students, nurses, faculty and others interested in attending this special event.
Susan B. Hassmiller, RN, PhD, FAAN is the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Senior Adviser for Nursing. In partnership with AARP, Hassmiller also directs the Foundation’s Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action. This 50-state and District of Columbia effort strives to implement the recommendations of the Institute of Medicine’s report on the Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health and will additionally seek to build a Culture of Health. Hassmiller served as the report’s study director. She is also serving as Co-Director of the Future of Nursing Scholars program.
The Essence of Healing: Journey of American Indian Nurses is a documentary that captures the journeys of 14 American Indian nurses from the Northern Plains as they follow their calling into the nursing profession. The documentary was produced as a part of a US. DHHS University Partnership Research Grant and led by Dr. Loretta Heuer, PhD, RN, FAAN, Professor of Nursing at North Dakota State University. This film is a partnership between North Dakota State University School of Nursing, University of North Dakota Recruitment/Retention of American Indians Into Nursing, Cankdeska Cikana Community College, and Kat Communications.
