CHI St. Alexius nurses expect contract talks to begin in August

Nurses at CHI St Alexius in Bismarck say they’re about one month from starting contract negotiations with the hospital after voting to unionize in March.

The union will represent more than 200 nurses, and sent out surveys to the group to determine the top issues. One major issue in the upcoming negotiations will be recruiting and retaining employees.

“We feel that using our voice as a nurses union is the best way to keep St. Alexius competitive and attractive to staff,” said Leslie Wenger, a registered nurse with the hospital.
