Role of the Licensed Nurse in Aesthetic Practices in North Dakota

At the July 18, 2019 convened ND Board of Nursing (Board) meeting, the Board reviewed the draft practice guidance titled, “Role of the Licensed Nurse in Aesthetic Practices in ND”. The draft practice guidance was a culmination of work which started in January 2018.

The work included discussions at multiple Boards meetings; dialogues with representatives from ND Board of Medicine, ND Board of Pharmacy, and ND Medical Spa Association; review of national regulatory statements from multiple state nursing boards; consideration of letters, concerns, testimonies, and presentations from the aesthetic industry and public over the past 2 years. Also, the Board considered the continued submissions of public concerns related to nurses in aesthetic practices in ND despite the January 2018 interpretive statement and the Dakota Nurse Connection publication titled, “The Professional Nurse: Regulatory Standards of Practice”.
