FARGO — Twelve third-graders at Madison Elementary School became future Doogie Howsers and Florence Nightingales Wednesday, Dec. 18.

The kids took part in an honorary white coat ceremony, and nursing students from North Dakota State University were there to help put them on as a symbol for finishing the six-week Great Health Care Adventure program.

The NDSU students said they enjoyed how much the kids were interested in nursing.

“I was kind of shocked by how much they actually did already know, but it was also really fun to share the things they didn’t know,” said Jaylee Mattis, who studies radiologic sciences at NDSU. “They seemed super interested and excited about learning it.”
