Academic administrators at all levels are responsible for spending the institution’s financial resources wisely, including thoughtful preparation of an annual budget. The budget must demonstrate how the organization uses financial resources to support the goals and objectives of the institution, and it should align closely with the institution’s strategic plan. Academic administrators are responsible to the Chancellor or President for the day-to-day management of the budget. Administrators should carefully and judiciously allocate resources that support personnel, operations, equipment, and all costs associated with meeting department goals.
